2:00PM Kick-off New Haven, CT.
Vermont Ravens won by a forfeit score 2-0 and improve their record to 5-2. The team traveled to New Haven and found the Venom unable to field a legitimate team to play a regulation game thus forfeiting the game per league rules.
Both squads agreed for a scrimmage and with the addition of players from other teams from a different league had enough to play. Vermont was successful in trying some different looks and getting players in different positions which should prove valuable for the play-off run.
Vermont is the 2nd seed currently with 1 game left regular season. All stats from this scrimmage are not included with player and team league stats for 2021. Vermont QB/SS #16 Abdi Abdi started the scrimmage for the missing starting QB #11 Jack Leclerc who could not make the trip. Mid-way through the 1st quarter Abdi found TE #81 Alphonso Jacobs alone at the 10-yard line.
Catching the ball, Jacobs turned and seeing a clear path to pay-dirt, sprinted into the end-zone for the touchdown. Ravens veteran QB/TE/SS #20 Roy Rose came in later replacing Abdi and threw 2 touchdown passes.
The first was a 2nd quarter 35-yard completion to a diving RB/WR/DB #3 Akeem Williams who laid out for the ball in the end-zone, coming up with the catch for 6.
Williams had 2 catches for 80 yards and the 1 TD. He also ran 2 times for 13 yards.
Rose later in the 4th quarter as time was winding down found Slot receiver/RB #5 Austin Mayo open for a 12-yard touchdown completion. Rose completed 11 passes for 138 yards and 2 TD’s while Abdi completed 1 pass for 22 yards and 1 TD. Rose ran the ball 5 times for 28 yards.
Abdi ran once for 9 yards. The Ravens improve to 5-2 and are home next Sunday Sept. 26 @ 2:00pm to play the number 1 seed Hartford Colts at South Burlington HS.
